All actions are guided by the principles and procedures recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring fairness, accountability, and academic integrity in all editorial decisions.

Purpose and Scope

The primary objective of this policy is to ensure that published content remains accurate, trustworthy, and ethically sound. IJPT recognises that errors or ethical concerns may arise before or after publication and provides mechanisms to address such issues appropriately. This policy applies to all published articles and covers corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions depending on the severity and nature of the issue identified.

Corrections (Erratum and Corrigendum)

Minor errors that do not significantly affect the validity, interpretation, or conclusions of the research will be addressed through formal corrections. An erratum is issued to correct errors introduced during the publication process, while a corrigendum is issued when authors identify errors in their own work. All corrections are clearly linked to the original article and are made freely accessible to ensure transparency and proper documentation of changes.

Retractions

Retractions are issued in cases where there is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error. This may include, but is not limited to, plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, unethical research practices, duplicate publication, or significant methodological flaws. Retraction notices are published promptly, clearly identifying the reason for retraction, and are linked to the original article. The original article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted to preserve the scholarly record while alerting readers to its status.

Expressions of Concern

In situations where there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct or when an investigation is ongoing, IJPT may issue an expression of concern. This serves to inform readers of potential issues with the article while maintaining transparency during the investigation process. Once the investigation is complete, the expression of concern may be followed by a correction, retraction, or removal if necessary.

Investigation Process

All allegations of errors or misconduct are handled in a systematic and confidential manner. The editorial team conducts a preliminary assessment, followed by consultation with reviewers, authors, and, where necessary, institutional authorities. IJPT adheres to COPE flowcharts and guidelines to ensure that investigations are conducted fairly, objectively, and without bias. Authors are given an opportunity to respond to allegations before any final decision is made.

Author and Editorial Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the journal if they identify errors in their published work. Editors are responsible for ensuring that all corrections and retractions are handled transparently and efficiently. Both parties must cooperate fully during the investigation and resolution process to uphold the integrity of the publication.
