Copyright and License
Copyright and License
The International Journal of Psychology and Therapy (IJPT) is committed to promoting ethical, transparent, and accessible scholarly publishing through a clearly defined copyright and licensing framework. The journal follows internationally recognised standards in open access publishing and aligns its policies with the requirements of major indexing systems, including Scopus and the Web of Science. IJPT ensures that authors retain ownership of their intellectual property while enabling the widest possible dissemination and responsible reuse of published research.
Author Copyright Ownership
Authors publishing in IJPT retain full copyright of their work. Unlike traditional publishing models that require authors to transfer copyright to the publisher, IJPT adopts an author-centric approach that recognises the intellectual contribution and ownership rights of researchers. Authors maintain control over the use, distribution, and future application of their work, subject to the terms of the licence granted to the journal for publication.
Formal Statement:
© Authors retain copyright. Published by IJPT under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
License for Publication (CC BY 4.0)
All articles published in IJPT are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
This licence permits unrestricted use, distribution, reproduction, and adaptation of the work in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and the source of publication. Users must provide a clear citation, include a link to the licence, and indicate whether changes were made. This licensing model maximises the visibility, accessibility, and impact of published research while preserving proper attribution and academic integrity.
User Rights and Reuse Permissions
Under the CC BY 4.0 licence, readers and users may freely:
- Share and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the work
- Use the content for both non-commercial and commercial purposes
All reuse must include appropriate attribution to the original authors and the journal. Any modifications or derivative works must be clearly indicated to maintain transparency in the scholarly record.
Third-Party Material and Permissions
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use any third-party material included in their manuscripts, such as images, figures, tables, or datasets that are not originally created by them. Proper acknowledgment of such material must be provided in accordance with copyright laws and licensing requirements. IJPT does not assume responsibility for copyright violations arising from unauthorised use of third-party content.
Self-Archiving and Repository Policy
IJPT supports open access dissemination and allows authors to deposit the published version of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or academic networking platforms. Such deposits must include proper citation details and a link to the official published version on the journal website. This practice enhances the visibility, accessibility, and long-term preservation of scholarly work.
Commitment to Open Access and Ethical Publishing
Through its copyright and licensing framework, IJPT reinforces its commitment to ethical publishing, transparency, and global knowledge sharing. By combining author rights with open access principles, the journal ensures compliance with international publishing standards and fosters a sustainable and credible academic publishing environment.
