Call for Papers Special Issue: Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Human Cognition and Emotion

The International Journal of Psychology and Technology (IJPT) invites high-quality submissions for a forthcoming special issue examining the profound impact of artificial intelligence on human cognition, emotion, and behaviour. Rapid advancements in AI systems are reshaping how individuals think, feel, interact, and make decisions, raising critical psychological and ethical questions.

This special issue aims to provide a comprehensive, interdisciplinary platform for exploring how AI technologies are influencing mental processes, emotional experiences, and human identity in digitally mediated environments.

Scope and Themes

We welcome original contributions addressing (but not limited to):

• AI companionship and human–AI relationships (e.g., ChatGPT, Replika)
• Emotional AI and affective computing
• Cognitive offloading and decision-making in AI-supported environments
• AI dependency and behavioural reliance on intelligent systems
• Human trust, attachment, and anthropomorphism in AI
• Impact of AI on attention, memory, and problem-solving
• AI and emotional regulation or social interaction patterns
• Ethical implications of AI in psychological contexts
• AI-mediated communication and social cognition

Submission Guidelines

• Manuscripts must follow APA 7th edition style
• All submissions must be original and unpublished
• Papers should align with the journal’s scope (psychology + technology)
• Submissions must be made through the online system

• Peer Review: 2–3 weeks (fast-track review available)
